OUR HISTORY
This history of the Brentwood and District Talking Newspaper goes back to a meeting called by local optician Ted Watts and Mary Cope a social worker for the Blind in the Brentwood area. Both had seen the activities of the Havering Talking Newspaper and wanted to establish a similar service for the the Blind and partially sighted in the Brentwood and Ongar areas.
At that meeting were a small group who were to become the steering comittee. Joining Mary was her Husband Ken who who matermind the fund rasing. Brian Lynch, a journalist who would look after the press campain. Dennis Rookard, who had built and managed the Harold Wood Hospital Radio service, and who was working with the Havering Talking Newspaper. He would design the studio and help train the engineers and readers with (ADD NAME) and to look after the intrests of our future listeners (ADD NAME)
